>reading Infinite Jest
>try to underline a new word
>the ink spreads into a huge blot, masking the text on both sides of the page
>try to repair the damage with an ink eraser
>it eats away 3 words' worth of printing pigment while leaving the ink untouched, with addition of a giant sickly yellow stain around it
>consider killing myself

I tried that with a mechanical pencip first, but it shredded the paper into an unsightly mess. Still better than ink, tho.

Just use a normal pencil. You can undo it if you fuck up, and it doesn't spread everywhere in huge blots.

Are you a nigger? Who writes in books? Niggers! How hard is it to keep a small piece of paper with a book? You can even use it as a bookmark. BAKA!

Don't you have a dictionary app on your phone? Or an internet browser? Or a notepad app?

Marginalia is so 19th century.
