Would you suggest The Name of the Rose by Umbert Eco?

I once got thru half of it but I didn't finish it because I lose my copy. I've seen the film and it was awful and 'degenerate' (to my mind). Is the book superior to the film?

We shall forgive this typo. By all means, read the book. Eco writes beautifully.

He's pretty much an intellectual motherfucker. He actually only wrote The Name of the Rose because he felt he had to do something with all the things he knew about the 14th century.

When you end reading The Name of the Rose, read Baudolino.
