I don't play much vidya these days because I only have a shite laptop and a Wii. I do more tabletop gaming than anything these days. Every once in a while I'll boot up a roguelike such as Brogue (pictured) or putz around with flash games on Kongregate, but that's about it.

I like board games much more than video games lately. But I suppose that's /tg/ and not /v/. As for video games, my favorites are probably Katamari Damacy,
Mushihimesama Futari, Espgaluda 2, various other CAVE shit, Age of Mythology, Empire Earth, Nier, FFIX and Okami.

Mother 3 is possibly the most beautiful game ever made.

The plot is so simple yet so full of subtext.

Final boss battle had me crying like a little girl. True story. Lot of jagoffs these days, especially those on the indie/hipster tinge, like spouting off about their shiet games being art. I love the vidya, believe me. But only Mother 3 in my experience is real art; an experience that forces you to contemplate not just the game itself, but life in all its vastness.

yess. i knew, you'd deliver /lit/. i really don't mean to hyperbolize, but Mother 3 takes the advantage of this 16 bit medium in a way that is integral and inseparable from the story. this is really the only game i could begin to consider literature. it sets the bar HIGH.

>this is really the only game i could begin to consider literature. it sets the bar HIGH.

Agreed. The game, like any great literary work, has so many layers of meaning; One aspect of Mother 3 that I found very surprising was its trenchant critique of economic materialism and the emptiness and corruption it engenders.

I suck way too much at video games. I'm not even fucking joking, it's like all of my joints suddenly reverse themselves the instant I take a controller into my hands.

Those fucking things that requires like the least amount Of shitty arsed around skills:
Vidya obviously isn't the new Director of our times
As the Director was of last Century;
The Opera Composer was the most polymathed
Of the Arts before the fag with a camera showed up;
And now what requires the least thinking with the most Results, should be shunned as a passing interest.

Same here, man. If I do happen to play the vidya, I rarely venture beyond the PS1/3DO/Saturn era. The only games these days that grab my attention are old games that I didn't get to play in the day or Japanese games that never made it to Amurrrica. But every now and then I'll play something new.
