It's always struck me as odd that there isn't a greater correlation between attractiveness and intelligence.

The stereotype seems to be that attractive people aren't "required" to cultivate an intellect in order to be well-liked, so they don't.

For me, it created a sort of void between my physical and mental selves at an early age, and allowed me to cultivate an intellect that was wholly separate from the typical limitations of physical perspective.

I'm still not sure I understand it as a source of idolization, though. Motivation manifests in the strangest ways.

Training is what led me to reading.
After training of two years and losing massive weight I realized that I could challenge myself with something new. I came to /lit/ and started reading.

For as lost as I was, I can now say that 4chan is best thing ever to have happened in my life.

I feel better than ever, I am smarter than ever. I can never be sure, but I believe that it is these two things that led me to finishing my education and getting a job.

And it's so weird because I cannot reconcile that the values of "the cesspool of hatred and bigotry on the internet" taught me more about myself and self-realization, than whatever values modern society teaches me. This of course has awakened my curiosity. I wonder what is beyond the corner, what other challenges can I realize.
