I go to art school.

One of the assignments was to study the ways of an artist by doing a work yourself and talking about it. So you could do a remake or just apply the technique in a new way or go completely against it, etc. As long as you know what you are doing and can speak about it.

One of my friends shat on a little jar and put it up there in front of the teacher(btw, the shit was fresh, he got out in the middle of the class to do it). The class had a mixed reaction, some of them had a disgusted look on their faces whispering on how immature he was, another part was just trying to control laughter from the teacher's reaction, most of us just couldn't believe it. It went like this:

>Artist's shit
>Is it real shit?
>Yes.
>...Is it yours?
>Yes.
>Well, we don't have time to talk about it now. Take this damn thing outta here and please don't bring it back! We'll talk next class.

And they did, though I missed the talk.

It's more of a joke than anything else. We were just laughing at how wonderful this world is that such a thing is possible. We are laughing at the school, we were laughing at our friend. And the guy was laughing back at us.

It's all in what you say about it, it's all in taking a reaction. Something so simple can make people lose their heads, it's amazing. It's like a Shakesperean fool making fun of everyone else, that's how I saw it.

It was nothing like that video. Nothing of that seriousness. But who is to be sure they are serious?

This is the kind of gathering that will become the crossing of the Rubicon for many youths.

I guess we've all had them, we've been head over heels for a subculture and suddenly we all arrived to that awkward moment that bottled everything that the subculture containted and showed it for the shallow pretentiousness that it really was.

Some people went home to never return and look for new stuff. Others accepted it and never looked back. They're probably wasting their time in that very same subculture today, still defending whatever lame exhibition it crams out of its anus.

I've had many moments like those over the years and never really got glued to any except 4chan
