I am the most significant individual to ever have come into existence. Kings, tyrants, mothers, fathers, artists, musicians, scientists, philosophers, philanthropists – all pale in comparison to my mere existence, for without me, they would be nothing. They would be less than nothing – not even a thought. Neither words nor silence could aptly describe them, for if I never came to be, there would never have been a “they” to describe. You are all quite lucky that I happened along, you ghosts, and I am quite lucky that you all did the same. Let’s all hope, for each others’ sakes, that we remain content with existence. I could end you all a dozen ways or more, if I so chose. When my existence ceases, so reality follows, and so I have vanished thousands of times over, yet remain to be. This is the joke, that experience so unique, so individual, which can never be taken on by another, is the most communal property of all. All of you ghosts, whose existence I choose to allow, hold such influence over me. It’s a fantastic absurdity that I exert no control over you even in the book of my own pen. You are nothing, apart from me, yet you do as you will and I am powerless to make it otherwise. An interesting circumstance, if ever there was one.
