Just finished Mishima's temple of the golden pavilion. Twas fantastic, thanks for asking. My plan had been to start hacking away at Infinite Jest, but now I kinda wanna read The Sea of Fertility....

Tl;dr Infinite Jest vs. The Sea of Fertility.

DFW committed suicide too didnt he?

>> No.3298129

DFW killed himself due to depression.
YM killed himself due to honor and pride.

Infinite jets is lulrandom TENNIS pop culture. Mishima's is something else.

do you have an ebook file for temple of the golden pavilion? can't find one

>> No.3298165

Finished Sea Of Fertility a few weeks ago, it was great. My skill with wordsmithing cannot do it justice.

Finish off Sea of Fertility while you're hot with Mishima. Infinite Jest is rubbish compared to it.

No pure-blooded Japanese has chest and arm hair like that. Confirmed for gaijin half-breed barbarian.

I fucking love Adventure Time. Since I'm as cynical as the next guy, I usually wouldn't say it. But fuck, I fucking love that show.

I've never even heard of sea of fertility, but your words and a cursory Google of the series make it seem really interesting. Are they really that good?

>> No.3299156

>>3299016

Yeah, they're really good, especially the first two (Spring Snow and Runaway Horses). I don't remember the third book that well, but the fourth is, in hindsight, one of the most depressing and enigmatic books I've ever read.
The Sea of Fertility is well worth reading, it ranks up there with Golden Pavilion and The Sailor.

I think it far surpasses them, tbh. Runaway Horses is the best thing he ever wrote.

I found them on B&N for less than 25 bucks and I have a gift card.

Sounds awesome.
