It is very Pynchonian, but where Ruggles directs his gaze outward, DFW directs it inward.

Left/right politics don't really come into it that I recall.

There is a strong narrative thread tying it all together, though often in Wallace's work he prefers to hint at plot points (especially resolutions) than explicate them outright.

There is a fantastic cast of characters.
