Hi, /lit/.

I'm after some advice concerning the 'best' (by best I mean unabridged/unedited/well-annotated for study) copy of the Bible (KJV) available for purchase. I hear the KJV is regarded as the most relevant to the western canon, despite the utilisation of sub-par source texts- correct me if I'm wrong.

does this copy http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/King-James-Bible-Thomas-Nelson-Publishers/9780840726759
look up to scratch?

Thanks in advance for any help. I've searched the archives for recommended editions but I didn't seem to turn anything up other than 'go for KJV'.

Any advice on picking up a Bible?

I suppose I should've expected /lit/ to be slow considering it's still Christmas in the US/Europe.

really depends on what you're looking for.

literary value, denomination, clarity of translation, exegeses, commentary maybe...?

the ethiopian bible is actually pretty interesting

literary value, completely. I've never read one, figured I should get round to it now I have no excuse not to.

so all KJV bibles contain the same content/formatting?

I'm not at all familiar with Christian texts; I assumed recent printings/editions may contain edited portions of text 'updated for a modern audience' or something of the sort by some incompetent editor.

they should.

i'm recommending a specific version which should be the same regardless of the printer. don't be a faggot. a king james version will be a king james version unless it specifically says it's not. btw it's JUST a King James Version. NOT a New King James Version or American King James Version and so on.

if you need some specific title get the King James Study Bible. it has maps and shit.
