a tale inspired by PKD's actual mental collapse. read up on him a bit, really interesting guy. he wrote strictly on amphetamines for the majority of his career and later found out that his body couldn't metabolize the drug—it was a placebo the whole time. that's just one tidbit. seriously, not one of my favorite writers really, but a very interesting character
