the prose reads like a book of mythology or a religious text, every character is thoroughly fleshed out and it has just the right level of mundane and wierd, best work of all magical realism imo

i'm not the most well versed in magical realism but love in the time of cholera by the same author is pretty great as well as pretty much anything isabelle allende ever wrote which is also in marquez's latin tradition, master and margherita is in the same vein but wierder, like way wierder, much less mundane, and i know this isn't /tv/ but if you haven't seen pan's labyrinth i HIGHLY recommend it
