can the series be redeemed?

WILL GRRM redeem it?

>maybe the fiasco of the last two books just...HAD...to be done, to somehow, poorly, set the stage for an explosive last few novels?

I greatly enjoyed the last two, especially Jaime's character progression in the fourth one.

im glad you did.

personally, I felt like I've been waiting half a decade, and GRRM simply can't match the feel of the first 3 books.

the 4th (feast for crows) was OK. I hated it at first, but re-reading it twice, I've grown to like it.

A Dance with Dragons is beyond redemption. simply an insult, not "to the fans" but to the damn CHARACTERS he himself spent years building up. I rolled my eyes many, many times while reading it. I am very glad I did not pay for it.

I read the intro of the first book, with the wolves and stuff and wasn't impressed at all.

Not sure why. If comparing to something like The Hobbit, I conclude this is utter shite.

If you bear in mind that the 4th and 5th book were meant to just be one instalment, there's actually a shitload of content in them. His mistake was introducing so many POV characters.

TWoW will be absolutely explosive. I'm kind of worried that it will surpass 2,000 pages and be split into two books again, though.

Explosive like diarrhea!

Fuck you, Martin!
You should burst like Mr. Creosote, you bastard. Your War of the Roses fanfiction almost fucked up dark fantasy forever like Twilight fucked up vampires and werewolves in literature.
I am glad your series is starting to sink like the Titanic.

I dunno OP, I actually enjoyed every single book; the middle part of ACOK has been hard to get through in re-reads, but I endure it because I know it gets compensated by the Battle of the Blackwater.
I know a lot of people have been hating on the last books, never really understood why though.

Feast for Crows was better than the first two books. Dance with Dragons was absolute shit.
The series could still go about a thousand places though, and he's got seven books to figure out, so I think the conclusion will be satisfying.

I actually liked AFFC. The Cersei chapters are actually pretty good, the problem is that they are too many and too little spaced.
About ADWD, it's was a little disappointing (the dany chapters , and pretty much all of essos, felt as outright stalling); but the theon ones were awesomely disturbing, and it had no doubt the best prologue.

I doubt that. He wakes up every morning, checks his bank account and starts laughing like a maniac.
