What does /lit/ think about gonzo journalism?

>> No.3233133

can't speak for /lit/ but I think it's pretty cool the way the writer lives out the writing as it's being written.

I agree. But i think that fear and loathing is a pretty raw personal account of man's struggles in coping with the american dream and how thin it really is. mabye im reading too much in to things but to each his own

>> No.3233276

Innit just fiction?

>> No.3233302

Would you mind posting an example?

I guess one in a kind style of journalism.

Many people attribute Thompson's first-person writing and style to the amount of drugs he consumed. While they fail to realize that any idiot can consume LSD and wouldn't be able to write a coherent sentence, while this man took those experiences and perspectives and not only did he laid them on paper so that anybody can come to see his point of view but also saw the ugliness of what came to be the pursue of the "american dream"

Too bad he became too erratic during his final years and shot himself. Now, he is more of a pop-culture icon than anything else.
