This.

You should never be buying music, movies or video games. Or books.

amazon normally—when I buy a book I prefer to get it new, and amazon usually has the best price for that. If I'm already out and near a bookstore/barnes&noble, though, I'll drop in and see if there's anything I've been meaning to pick up

you can't preach against fueling a capitalist/consumerist system if you spend money on anything at all. that means no arguing that 'well food/gas/power/heat are necessities,' because to pay for those things while preaching against paying for anything at all makes you inherently an ideological hypocrite.

also, if you're old enough to be sustaining yourself financially (which somehow I don't expect is the case), I very much doubt that you're even taking the most principled measure of not paying taxes to the government

Well in that case your typing all that out was for naught.
I just don't like paying for shit if I don't have to.

the abolitionists benefitted from the infrastructure built with capital raised by slave labor, but that didn't stop william lloyd garrison

it's a question of power. do i have it in my power to live totally independent from the entire system? no; i don't have or own any land, which is the first thing

in terms of social reform, the ideas necessarily precede the reality.

I usually go to Powells City of Books. Its a huge fucking store. 3 floors, over 1 million volumes, and still a used book store. Ive used all the Powell stores at one point or another.

I love living in Portland.

Every purchase is a political expression.

I just buy loads and loads of cheap, degrading pornography because I want to see loads and loads more made and coming.
