Hey I don't really read much, but I just finished this book yesterday. What does /lit/ think of The Jungle?

Jungle is a British electronic music subgenre and it is massive.

In the early 90's there was a merging of American and UK House, garage, Hip-hop; the techno and dance emerging in Europe; mixed with a reggae vibe, loads of drugs and played very fast. It never really became mainstream, but was hugely popular in underground raves and hanger parties. It later evolved into Drum and Bass.

Early 90s Johnny Vaughan on the Big Breakfast TV show poularised the joke.

Why do X animals always get lost?
Because the Jungle Massive.

Massive refers to a street or rave crew/gang, and was popular with underground rave groups. He took the mickey out of them on his breakfast show playing fast rave/techno and mocking their speech and rave culture with the Brixton Massive or similar. So...the Jungle Massive refers to music not trees, the double pun at the end adds a meme like quality to it (or did at the time)

Sorry if that's badly written but i am not well today and remembering stuff from the early 90s.

I'm pretty sure it was the Ali G show intro that popularised "Jungle is Massive" in the 90's, not Johnny Vaughan.

Ali G came later. I don't remember him doing that stuff so much on the 11 O'Clock show either.
