What stops those who read through stuff at publishers from just stealing your work?

I'm such an introverted aspie, I probably wouldn't do something if I got rejected and later saw my poems or something in a book.

You take pictures of you and your manuscript next to a newspaper with the date clearly visible.
Then when they steal stuff from you, you get your mom to call a lawyer and sue the bastards.
Then you quit your job and write full-time.

That's not a bad idea, actually. Thanks a lot, anon!

You can record your package or if you typed up online your computer will keep a record of the dates you wrote it.

Generally, this problem doesn't really exist unless you send it off to some lone individual separate from a publishing house.

endless lawsuits

It has happened though; But only if you're already owned by the same publisher who copies your shit to republish it with a different author

Pinecone's Pvoverps fbor Pararaniiooeds:

PfP1: You may never get to touch the Master, but you can tickle his creatures.
PfP2:The innocence of the creatures is in inverse proportion to the immorality of the Master.
PfP3:If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don’t have to worry about answers.
PfP4:You hide, they seek.
PfP5:Paranoids are not paranoids because they’re paranoid, but because they keep putting themselves, fucking idiots, deliberately into paranoid situations.

Words to live by.

1. You don't have aspergers and are not on the autism spectrum.
2. You don't see a lot of extroverted aspergers patients, so the "introverted" is redundant.
3. Your poems suck.

I've heard stories of this happening. I expect it's mostly people who work for smaller (probably online) magazines.

Serious question, if I email myself a copy of my complete transcript, does that count as copyright?

It's the same logic as the postal copyright (or poor man's copyright). Amiright?

Fairly obscure.

So put a coin in your mouth
And wade out to your knees
