Read these three encyclopaedia entries. Get back to us when you have read them and still find you do not have a sufficient grasp of the concept or if you can't find any books or authors mentioned in those articles that you want to read to further educate yourself.

Those three sites are basically always where you start when you are interested in a philosophical subject.
