what entry level books would you recommend to a dumb person?

>> No.3129962

Vonnegut: Slaughterhouse 5

>> No.3129966

Harry Potter

>> No.3129970

Like, if I wanted to punish them? Infinite Jest.

I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream

Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire

>> No.3129982

For a dumb person?
Confederacy of Dunces. The fan base for that book consists of utter morons.

well I was reading Stephan King in 7th grade so if your talking at least 7th grade level intelligence you should be able to start there and then move on to better stuff.

I liked from a Buick 8, Insomnia, dark half, needful things, and fire starter.

If you want to take another route, Bridge of Birds is a fairly easy read and quite rewarding.

Or harry potter is a good suggestion too I guess.

Oxford University does a series of "Very Short Introductions" to various topics if you're looking for that sort of thing. They have recommended reading lists to help get you started and you can generally find them used online for a few dollars.

Everybody poops.

Depends on your definition of "dumb."

Catcher in the Rye?
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea?
Winnie the Pooh?
vidya?

Why would you say that Catcher in the Rye is for a 'dumb' reader?

>> No.3132294

>>3132263
Maybe that's for if you can't speak and you need someone to share your feelings of isolation with.

Holden Caulfield is one of the great tragic characters in western literature. Catcher In The Rye is among the finest novels written in the 1900s.

You would disagree with me, and any number of critics and writers who hold the same opinion? For what reason? Give me a solid critical go as to why the book isn't full to brim with merit.

From what I've gathered on here and of the little I've read of him Chuck Palahniuk's novels are pretty easy and fun entry level books.

Isn't the goal of this thread to help the dumb grow smarter? That is the goal of books.

>> No.3132444

Honestly OP, if you really need a good book for dumb readers, just ignore the rest of this thread and read Finnegans Wake
