Try Christopher Brooks, History of the Central Middle Ages. It's pretty broad and is separated into the different regions so most of Europe is covered.

Also Bloch is GOAT. Joined the French Resistance and got hisself shot.

Morris Bishop's book is spectacular, though it is quite introductory. Susan Wise Bauer also has a good book on the middle ages.

Textbooks all suck to some degree. Check out the TTC courses, they have a three parter series on the Early, High and Late Middle Ages that is pretty entertaining. Great lecturer. Supplement that with some textbooks and you're golden.

Always good to read more than one textbook so you can fill in the gaps left by the other(s).
