The illiterates of Detroit razed the local library? Or is it really that shit now? Reminds me of North Korea (best korea)

same

There was an old working men's club near where I live and I heard from a guy who used to go there that it used to be a library and that they took down all the books and stored them in the attic.

I paid them a visit to see if I could get the books out if they were'nt using them and they told me they'd thrown them all in the recycling a couple of months later.

It's a shame that people don't value them more, even if it's just in terms of selling them on the cheap or handing them out for free

Detroit, from what I've read, is pretty much run by blacks after their industries collapsed, and reading and preservation of landmarks is therefore not high on the priority list

Well, people are retarded. They seriously don't realize how shitty it is for them to just half-assedly reshelve their shit in the wrong places. They should have a fucking guy at the entrance of the library personally remind everyone not do that annoying shit

Fucking this. Sometimes I'd go looking for a book that was supposed to be on the shelf and end up finding it on an entirely fucking different shelf. If it weren't for the fact that I had a fucking half hour to spend to just browse through an entire section of the library looking for things that look interesting I never would have found the book I actually wanted, and there would be no way for the library staff to know where the book is either short of doing an entire library audit.

Just google 'Detroit Abondoned libraries'

Most of the pictures are from last year so they should still be there, although they are likely to be damp or rotten.

The pics I posted are from one of the central libraries, a couple of abandoned high schools libraries, and the book depository
