Whatcha think?

>> No.3104754

Impossible thanks to capitalism, private property, the nation state, corporatism and globalisation.

One of the best books I have read.

I reckon you could still do it. What about that journalist (from the Guardian, maybe?) who learned how to live totally self-sufficiently? Just suss shit from him and find some unowned land somewhere in the world. I'm sure there's a bit left.

this.

fucking private property is the biggest bullshit. I was sitting in a fucking huge parking lot drinking coffee, smoking, and reading, and of fucking course the fucking security guard had to come and force me off. I wasn't doing anything that would bother anyone else, but oh shit, this is private fucking property man. there's no place for me to just chill and read anymore unless I buy the land.

Fuck America.

Ah, Walden...

>Dat Transcendentalism.
>Dat "Fuck you guvmint".
>Dat philosophy.
>Dat abrupt ending.

This fucking book... It made me want to live the rest of my life in a cabin deep in the wilderness living off the land. So much feels...

Looks like it could be a /k/ project.

Transcendentalism's great. Not something I could ever subscribe to fully, but filled with pearls of wisdom to return to occasionally for guidance and strength.

my professor visited the house and told us that a bunch of kids had taken a picture with the Thoreau statue and one put a donut in his outstretched hand.

No it's not. I was still talking about the issue.

Agreed. Taking what you need from it is a lot better than going off the deep end about it.
Kind of like Buddhism. I like the meditating and peacefulness of it, but I'm not gonna go full retard about it and start wearing orange robes while some asshole hits me with a plank of wood.

>> No.3104950

Good ideas, except when you consider that the shack he built was only a mile from Emerson's house. He went to Emerson's house almost nightly to eat dinner and took his laundry home to wash it.

>Tl;dr - Thoreau lived like a college student only in the woods
