How many languages can you speak? Don't say you understand a language if you only know a few words (I see that on facebook all the time).

>> No.3084746

Two, English and Latin. I am super employable.

>> No.3084750

I don't, I think it's beautiful. But for anyone not planning to spend his life in the Netherlands or Flanders it's a relatively useless language to learn, so I would urge people who don't plan on living here to learn a language that reaps them more benefit.

>> No.3084797

English, German, Hindi, learning Japanese atm

>> No.3085110

Two, English and Japanese.

I can read simple French and German but my vocabulary is pretty lacking, and I can't speak or understand their spoken forms except for a few common German phrases

Do you mean Dutch Dutch or Flemish Dutch? I find both quite sympathetic, the first for it's relative harshness and the second for it's gentleness.

Four.
One is English and the other three are obscure regional languages.

>> No.3085715

English, French and Italian.

Looking to self-teach something else. Thinking a Scandi language cause it'd be fun, but Spanish or German would be more useful. Depends on the nationality of any European girls I can get to help me learn I guess.

>> No.3085734

Danish, english, German, Spanish, Chinese (understand Swedish and Norwegian)
Chinese is hard as fuk to learn. After 6 years of uni and 1½ years in China I still have plenty to learn.

to all the Latin speakers in this thread how long did it take before you were able to start reading primary sources like Cicero's speeches?

Also where you self taught or was it taught to you at school/university and is the dowling method a good way of learning Latin
