When I receive my tax refund the next year, I'm going to buy 1000+ copies of Ayn Rand's "The Virtue of Selfishness."

Once I've received the delivery, I will pass them out to every person I come into contact with. Maybe even leave some on door steps and park benches for people to find. Something like what Christians do with gospel tracts.

This will spread atheism and selfishness for all time. I don't see how this can fail.

>> No.3080220

Why don't you just keep this glorious ideology for yourself? Fuck those other people.

Well, you'll probably give them to someone who doesn't like Rand at some point, who will find you and point out the irony of giving out free shit to spread Rand's message while throwing all the copies he was able to recover at you.

the modern person doesn't read unless it's tween vampire fantasy, lady sex fantasy, nerd continuity tie in, or classic" so expect your books to end up in the bin or padding a vagrant's nest

Was making the second Atlas Shrugged movie wrong by Objectivist standards? The first part flopped hard, so the people financing this one can't be expecting to benefit from it. Were they being altruistic?

>> No.3080270

I thinking you're from a religious group trying to make atheists look bad. Atheism has nothing to do with selfishness or generosity. It has to do with realizing that this world is all you've got and you should make the best of it.

Go back to helping millionaire preachers get their names in nice old ladies' wills.

Yup. True altruism is found in the people who make 2nd parts of movies without expecting any profit.

No, atheism has to do with the absence of belief in dieties. Nothing more, nothing less.

Depends on which ethicist you ask.

I've subscribed to a personal form of moral intuitionism.

You combine atheism with something else. The journey for "something else" starts by finding the first true commandment, hidden in a book more intellectually stimulating than all holy scriptures combined -- Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Yes you can. In fact handing out a political treatise for the purpose of persuading others IS a selfish motive.

Sounds like you should probably actually read the book first.
