>Limits on the checking out of library ebooks.

Explain the reasoning behind this.

Because people like me who don't like returning books

But since downloading things off the internet also counts as stealing them, I think the libraries reasoning is very clear!

>> No.3059475

Wait, is it a time limit or a number of books checked out at once limit? Can you renew as long as you want? I would assume it's just the publisher forcing it on libraries to get people to buy books, but I don't know.

>implying you can "steal" an ebook

>>3059471
when?

>>3059472
The library in question is the Open Library, which makes it even worse.

>>3059475
it's an actual limit on how many digital copies that can be checked out

so if there's 1 ebook only 1 person can check out that ebook and no one else may have it

>> No.3059480

They're only licenced to have X amount of copies so it's just like any book. What you're looking for is to buy an ebook, even with those though there's sometimes a limit.

>> No.3059486

>>3059480
The book in question only has one ebook copy and it's from the Open Library

it's not even in print anymore so the price for a new one is ridiculously expensive (over $1000)

Arty the Smarty

I wanted to get it for my nieces but I sure as hell ain't paying $40 for a beat up used copy with some other kid's name in it or $1100 for a new copy

I feel your pain bro.
I hate these kike-ass motherfucking booksellers jacking up the price of everything as soon as it goes out of print regardless of any actual demand so that the one person who is interested in the fucking book has to pay out the ass for it.

>borrowing e-books from libraries

You dun goof. Actually, when I first got my e-reader I borrowed e-books from the library, and then I learned about torrenting ebooks

>dat feel with 1000s free ebooks in my e-reader, including the best sellers
>any book I want, free.

What you need:

Torrent it
IRC it
Google'd it

Calibre to convert the book to your desired format: .mobi, .epub, etc

I think my mom paid like 50 cents for it at a thrift store, it lasted in our family for over 30 years before it fell apart

it's a really rare book, as far as I know no one else has an ebook copy of it

I think I'm gonna send an email to Open Library asking where they got the rights to make an ebook copy because I can't find a single piece of information about the publisher (Wonder Books), I wonder how much it'd cost to buy the rights to a 60s children's book.

Some old bitch is probably holding onto to the rights and either doesn't care about the book or doesn't know that they're the rights holder.

http://www.sundancepub.com/c/@hUttQ71hGH2BM/Pages/product.html?record@S3851 It looks like Sundance Publishing has at least bought the rights to the Wonder Books name.
