>mfw I read this book

>> No.3029495

Yes, and it kinda sucked. The Fountainhead was significantly better.

>> No.3029498

The story dragged a bit at the end. But a good part of the book kept me interested. Though Rand's ideologies are flawed, she does make some persuasive points. However, the end really got to me because Rand basically beats a dead horse to oblivion.

planning on reading a few of her books next year

"This is not a novel to be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown with great force" -Dorothy Parker

I liked the book for the most part...but GOD DAMN having to read John Galt's speech made me want to pull my hair out

well she looks like a horse LOL!

I'm trying to read it, but I can't simply like it or be interested enough to finish it.

I agree with her on some points, but I think she's being too extravagant about it. Prose sucks too.

Same here. The first two parts I really enjoyed but once it hit the third part I found it rather silly and overly bitter. John Galt's speech was pretty much the first two parts of the book if the person reading the book had no idea what the first two parts meant but decided to keep reading anyway.

I read it

I liked it, when I read it, but that was in 10th grade. Then I read Lolita and I was like holy shit this is so much better fuck objectivism and laissez-faire capitalism in the ASS

reached 150 pages, of that many I am thoroughly proud.

Pretty much these. If you cut out Galt's speech altogether, I think the novel as a whole would be infinitely more readable. Outside of the speech, I actually did like it.

Great book, not as good as The Fountainhead or We The Living. A bit verbose at times but I get that she was making her point.

>> No.3030863

Shit novel by shit author

>> No.3030883

I read it and really enjoyed it.
