Samuel Beckett? Love, like, hate, whothefuckisthat.jpg ?

>> No.3001365

I sincerely doubt anyone here would ask "who the fuck is that."

>> No.3001367

I like him a whole lot, although I've only read Watt and Godot.
If someone could recommend a way through his work or maybe make an 'into' guide, it would be appreciated.

why do you need a feckkin guide to read an author you dingus, he has a trilogy, those are the only 3 books of his that you would need to 'start somewhere' with (i.e. the first book of the trilogy)

just pick up the first book/play that catches your eye and fucking read that shit

my only subjective advice is to avoid 'dream of fair
to middling women' as your first taste of beckett

thats it

I'd rather not. I don't have any time for reading.

There's only one chance at a third first taste. Thank you for your advice.

I'm currently reading it in French in English.
Does anyone know if anything is lost in translation? Or should I read it in English in French?

I really wonder why the hatred toward his work.

Hell, even Ayn Rand raged against him.

Jealousy.

>> No.3001470

I've only read Waiting for Godot and I quite liked it.
It didn't strike me as brilliant but it had a certain charm to it which I found quite appealing.

One of the deepest writer. But he can't admit it.
Also, the Into guide.
