How many have you read, /lit/?
Only 31 for me

>> No.2944545

Swann's Way doesn't count as one book.

75
a lot of basic stuff there OP read more

>> No.2944552

I've read many more than that, but not all the ones that she's read. There's a decent lot of shit on that list.

But 71 for me.

You're pathetic. I've read all of these. Seriously get off of /lit/ and start reading. I'd recommend starting with The Life and opinions of Tristram Shandy by Lawrence Sterne. It's a good starting point for middle-schoolers.

>hurr reading is a competition

I always hated Gilmore Girls so I don't care one way or another,

>> No.2944590

About 30 but there's some pretty pedestrian shit in that list. Dr. Suess? Surprised there wasn't any Bernstein Bears.

It's not that it's a competition, but your understanding of the canon and of literature itself ends with how many books you've read. If some people on /lit/ think this is an intimidating list, then that explains some of the stupid shit that gets said here. Not that I've read absolutely everything there myself.

pssst.

she's not real.

Stopped reading there.

Ugh, her readings are eurocentric as fuck.

What seems to have been compiled there is a list of books American television writers consider to be an indication of "intelligent taste". I'm not saying they aren't good books, but I would suggest that their inclusion into the television series is nothing more than a cheap tactic to instill intellectual characteristics onto characters lacking in appropriate genuine characterization to otherwise convince the audience of their intellectual nature.

Like fucking chess metaphors. God damn I hate chess metaphors in television and films.

First of all, these are just books MENTIONED on the show, not books Rory has read.
Second, these books are pretty much all classics. But you don't need to read every single one of them to gain an understanding of the times they represent. Your time is simply better spent reading their Wikipedia articles, thinking about them, and either writing, or reading something more relevant. I mean -- you definitely want a very good basis in world and historical literature, but reading everything on this list is simply a waste of time.

Man I love Rory Gilmore

I touch myself whenever she shows up in the show, the whole thing is kinda boring but for some reason I just fucking love her and want her to be my girl

sage because not /lit/ related

>> No.2944741

45

Now, take out the plays and Stephen King, and it's more like 35.

>>2944730
It's a list of literature, dumbass. It might be linked to a fictional character in a television show, but it sure as hell is /lit/ related as well.

did you actually learn anything? what it's the point of reading a shitload of books and not learning anything

it's increasing your penis with browser wars in /g/

One day I went outside my house and found a completly torn apart box with no stickers or anything. Inside where the box sets of every single Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls. Obviously someone had seen the box and stolen the show they liked out of it then dumped the box at my house. I was never intrested in these but one day I was bored and watch them.

Damnit I love Veronica Mars

I've only read twelve, probably because the list doesn't have enough science fiction.

Each book should be assigned a score based on how long and hard it is. This way we can compare our /lit/ peens better.
