how do you view someone who doesn't enjoy reading, /lit/?

>> No.2929327

Depends wholly on the reasons. I kind of like the futility argument and can respect people for it. I dislike a dumb disinterest.

I like people who are post-reading, not those who are pre-reading.

>> No.2929325

ok with me

we all have our things

>> No.2929345

it's nice if they do as it gives us something in common, but if they don't that's okay too. i have a few reader friends from university, but my closest friends, the ones i grew up with, probably couldn't name an author outside of j.k. rowling.

>> No.2929355

Well, i give my brother a hard time for it - but that's more playful brotherly quarreling than anything else.

I have friends who don't read, and i don't mind, as long as they are not stupid or 'proud' about it.

Ironically (or not) I'm more likely to judge someone for what they read than if they read at all.

>> No.2929367

They're just people. They usually tend to be less interesting than people who aren't against reading, but I don't go out of my way to avoid them. If they have something else they're really into then that's cool.

>> No.2929372

I don't look down on non-readers, but in the main I find them less interesting and their company significantly less enjoyable than (intelligent) readers. I could not be romantically involved with a non-reader.

If someone has a brain and isn't reading they'd have to be an artist, a chess player, a mathematician or a monk to have my respect.

>> No.2929379

most of my friends aren't readers so i can definitely get along well with such people. in fact, i might have something against you as a reader if i perceive that you're being one as some sort of compensation. of course, i wouldn't hate you for it, but if you're overly stuffy and serious, i certainly could be persuaded to.

My answer is identical to yours.

As organ donors. Srsly, we should kill them as humanely as possible and harvest their organs for later use. I'm not making this up, I really believe they are an abomination which should not be tolerated.

>> No.2930987

I immediately see them as inferior in EVERY aspect of life

My Japanese wife.

She hates reading in any language and says ( I quote )

'It's too difficult!'

I am on the verge of divorcing the bitch on these grounds. Almost 4 fucking years and I still can't wrap my head around why I married her.

>> No.2930994

Don't read recreationally for whatever reason: Meh, whatevs.

Aliterate: Are you stone cold retarded or what.

If they just don't like it, fine. If they think it's too hard or are too lazy, then I'm not okay with that.
