About 97 percent of books I ever wanted to read (including all classics, and most recent best sellers) could be found on the internet for free.

I've got one, and it's awesome. e-ink is fuckin' amazing, I only have to charge the thing for 30 minutes or so every week or 2 (with my cellphone charger no less), easy to put on books, and can actually put the damn thing in my pocket if I wanted to. The 2gb limit doesn't really bother me... i can't imagine a reason for needing to have access to any more than 2,000+ books on me at any given point in time. Plus, I got mine dirt-ass cheap; just wait around for some website retailer to throw them on sale. Definitely worth it.

My best luck is with torrents but some people say IRC.

DDL sites would be / were great but they're all shut down.

>> No.2927436

The greatest thing in history would be a mass leak of every book from some store Amazon/BN/Kobo/wherever - would probably not be more than a couple hundred gigs for every book in existence and the torrent would be impossible to kill. Then it would truly be every book free forever for everyone.

I'm really surprised this hasn't happened yet. Would only have to have an exploit once.

>> No.2927439

But that wouldn't be every book in existence. Not every book is even available to buy on any of the ebook purchasing sites. A very large amount still aren't available, though more are becoming so each day. It's still very very far from every book in existence though.

For me it's not collecting or showing off, but nostalgia.

I'll forever be impressed by how something so simple, crude and cheap can transmit such powerful emotions and thoughts to me. That a little pile of paper and ink can hit me harder than a huge theatrical production with the finest actors, the most expensive cutting-edge special effects.

It's the humble simplicity of books that's enchanting and a relatively new gizmo like an ereader lacks some of that charm. I'll still pick one up eventually but will never abandon books altogether.
