So what was the first book you ever fell in love with and how old were you?

I was in 4th grade and the book was House of The Scorpion. It was the first book i actually read. Before then, I never liked books or reading, since then I have obsessed over Shakespeare, Alighieri, Homer, Plato, and of course Poe.

The whole theme of survival and doing what was necessary to stay alive really interested me and kept me hooked until the end!

The Shadow on the Glass by Ian Irvine, I read books beforehand, but I fell in love with the major antagonist/anti-hero.

Not my first favorite by a longshot, but I really liked Gary Paulson's The Transvaal Saga. I also loved House of the Scorpion, too.

The Eye the Ear and the Arm (or whatever it's called) was great (Africa in the future!!).

Swiss Family Robinson. It was a Disney edition, or something and I've never found it again. It must have belonged to my father, it was so old. I still have it, though. I was six and I must have read it a dozen times. I loved that book. I have to find it again.

You have good taste.

I read Redwall, Marlfox, Salamandastron, Martin the Warrior, Mattimeo, Pearls of Lutria and Mossflower before I moved on to other things. I hope my kids enjoy them as much as I did some day.

White Fang. I dunno, I was probably between 9 and 12. It's one of the few books I remember reading when I was young, so it must have been important to me. I've been thinking about reading it again, once I get over this high fantasy kick.

This book provided the imagery for my deep decent into depression when I was younger. That math wizard was a douche.
