I want to read some Stephen King because it's been awhile. I have It, Salem's Lot, and Duma Key. Which do I read?

>> No.2849952

salem's lot is real good, it is real good up until the turtle, duma key is awful

>> No.2849954

It was good except for the whole extraterrestrial aspect, that part sort of ruined it for me.

Read IT

Salem's Lot is actually pretty good.
My favorite King novel, though, is Firestarter. You should read that one if you can find it anywhere, which I'm sure you could.

i very much enjoyed cell.

If you like historical fiction, read 11/22/63. Time travel 'n shit.

I've never read any Stephen King, but I just read his son's book Horns and I really liked it. Any good starting points?

Except for that total cop out at the end.
I wish he had shown what the future would be like with a living JFK. The whole "oh noes the time stream is messed up so everything sucks now" thing was total bullshit and uncreative.

I read on some online articles that King actually researched and consulted historians, etc. But I get what you are trying to say.

that would've been neat but still i think it's the best and most satisfying ending he's done for a doorstopper novel, like, ever (excepting that saccharine ass epilogue, of course)

>>2850021

try one of his short story collections -- night shift and skeleton crew are both pretty excellent

I also feel like a proper ending to it would have been to just have a final sentence of "And how we danced.."

>> No.2850046

If you want some deep shit, read the Different Seasons. Four novellas, three of which have been made into movies that were good to fucking amazing. (Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, Apt Pupil, The Body/aka Stand By Me

Stand By Me movie was really good.
