Why do people hate books?

This is vital.

I try my best to not be flashy about the cover, holding the book angled down or near desk/table level. When I read I don't want people to think that's how I represent myself, as a reader.

Drinking in trains is allowed, I hope? Where I live I can get a tall can of cold beer on the railway platform and drink and read on my commute.

I meant on buses.

Public drinking (which includes public transit) is illegal in my city. You can get arrested or heavily fined if you're caught.

it was this book wasn't it?

they were doing you a favor by deciding which one was going to strangle you right there on the spot

>> No.2802256

In Australian culture most school-children grow up thinking reading on the school-bus is something social retards do. Which, in the case of the school-bus it sort of is, because you should be talking with your mates.

Unfortunately, they take that attitude with them onto actual buses. Which is retarded, because most of the general adult population reads on buses.

In university that whole situation takes a huge turn-around, because reading is associated with style and fashion.

At least, that's what it's like in Canberra. Young people hate others reading on the bus. Mature people don't give a fuck. I can imagine it's like that in other places.

>> No.2802260

Dunno OP, when I am on the bus or train and read my book, I read the book and don't look around how people react to me reading.
Seriously, what do you care if people scowl at you for reading in public?
