If I see someone who likes, for an example, the same books and films as me, but I don't recognize the video games or musicians he likes, I'll check out those video games and musicians, and I'll be more likely to enjoy those particular video games and musicians than I would enjoy just randomly recommended video games and musicians, because we have the same taste in other mediums. Therefore anonymous posts can be relevant and useful.
