Okay.

>some said they didn't like it
It's objectively an important and well-written work. Like does not factor into it.

>is it worth the read?
Yes.

>will i get anything from it?
Probably, if you're into literature.

>18 year old male here
Oh, I see. Maybe try The Dresden Files, I dunno.

The segment on Catholic Hell might be the best thing ever written.

Not with that grasp of English.

It's just a goddamn novel, read it or don't. It's very well written. If you can enjoy such things, you will enjoy it.

As one of the people who didn't like it much, I can say that I found it a peculiarly twee, tiresome, self-aggrandising book. I say this as someone who loved Ulysses and expected to enjoy Portrait; I found it difficult to reconcile myself to the idea that the two books were written by the same person.

Anyway, it's a bildungsroman, so if anybody is equipped to enjoy it then it's an 18 year-old male. Give it a shot and see what you think.

That's what someone would say about their own grasp on language, but let me put it plainly: You can't think, you can't write, you have no discernible talent.

>> No.2792131

Chapter 1 is probably the best chapter in the whole novel. The rest is great, but chapter 1 is perfect.
