I think the problem, in addition to fantasy being genre fiction and immediately being looked down upon, is that the covers of fantasy novels always look really corny and stupid. They look like cheap bargain bin novels or artwork from the 80s...are there any fantasy series that either have really classy covers or art that doesn't look like a joke?

Ebook version of Tower of Midnight. Of the ebook covers, there is only one or two that donesnt look badass. This one is my favorite

I don't especially love the covers, but I think the UK editions of Robin Hobb's books are quite nice for fantasy novels. The art isn't amazing, but I like the single, simple animal image rather than splashy artwork of wizards and dragons and knights fighting and posing all over the cover. Same for ASOIAF (though when I got my secondhand copy of AGOT for £3 with postage, I grumbled because instead of the nice simple covers I'd seen in shops, I got one with fantasy artwork all over it. Turns out it was a rare UK first edition that I'd received for less than the cost of posting the damn thing, so I stopped complaining after that)

I was kind of disappointed the third Abarat book's cover didn't have a layout like the other two. I really liked those when I was younger, especially with the second book that had the little eyeball on the hardcover when you took the slip off.
