>looking for books for upcoming trip
>borrowed "Dance Dance Dance" by Murakami from a friend
>ended up reading almost the whole book that week

Anybody here have any experience with Murakami's other books? If any of them are as good as this, I think I'll definitely be set for my 12 hour flight.

Murakami's best work by far is Almost Transparent Blue.

Different author? Talking about Haruki Murakami. Almost Transparent Blue's synopsis seems unique though.

I love Murakami's works as a matter of fact. You should try Kafka on the Shore

Will definitely check it out next time I make a trip to the bookstore. Also, wasn't the name "Kafka on the Shore" mentioned somewhere in Dance Dance Dance as well?

Funny how I'm actually eager to read more. It's been at least 3 years since I've read a book without any requirements from any of my classes. Feels refreshing from all the vidya and movies...

Do yourself a favor and go ahead and buy Hard-boiled Wonderland and the End of the World. Considerably short book, perfect for a flight, and drastically more engaging than a lot of his usual work. Then do yourself another favor and read Kafka on the Shore because that was the definitive book of my adolescence that I wasn't forced to read for school.

"Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World" is my favorite book by Murakami, but honestly I would actually suggest "After Dark" if you're after something rather succinct. I blew through that book in one night (it was quite difficult to put down...). And then I did it again. And again.

Murakami is a god among men.

Seems like people seem to like Hard-boiled Wonderland and the End of the World and Kafka on the Shore. High chance I'll pick them up next week after I'm done with Dance Dance Dance.

make sure to take a break between each book and intersperse it with some other styles. You could try mixing it up with a few King books like

The Running Man

and

Salem's Lot

You won't appreciate Murakami as much if you marathon everything. He does something special, but he does get repetitive if you don't space out his stuff.
