vary it up a little.

this picture seems to light up and vibrate. curious that it feels more living than social realism

Art - the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power

says nothing about representation or realism. these models of men and women may be accurate but they are stale. look into that painting long enough and you'll feel as though your swimming in it.

art isn't about deciphering the author's intent. that's why it's not necessary for the artist to make his meaning explicit because ultimately you will take your own ideas away from it. that way you're better placed to enter a dialogue of expression instead of being mere observers to a lecture series presented but pynchon, picasso or any other artist in another field.
