I've been interested in historical fiction lately, so

>What related books have you read recently?

>Any hist fic you're planning on reading?

On a side note, anyone know of any decent books about the Spanish conquest of the Americas?

>> No.2726025

That's what I wanted to hear. Can't wait to read it.

Who's read or heard of Aztec by Gary Jennings? Looks good... I can't find a free version of it anywhere so looks like I'll have to face the sunlight

The Conquest of New Spain, by Bernal Diaz

It's a first hand account of events. I just finished it.

I have recently read 'The Siege of Krishnapur' by J.G. Farrell.
It gives you a good impression of the facticity of the historical event.
Farrell is widely known to have written really good historical fiction.
If you are interested you should check out his 'Empire Trilogy':

Troubles (1970)
The Siege of Krishnapur (1973)
The Singapore Grip (1978)

Almost done with Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. It doesn't have much depth, but it's highly entertaining the whole time and does a good job with the medieval historical setting.

>> No.2726911

I just finished James Clavell's Shogun and I'm now reading Tai-Pan.

I enjoy them.

What's /lit/'s general consensus of Bernard Cornwell?
I rather enjoyed Azincourt.

>> No.2727096
