Game better than the books?

I found these books rather disappointing, I was expecting a lot more interaction between Lambert and Fisher let alone more descriptive/imaginative literature. I've never read Clancy though so I wasn't sure to expect. I've read some Ludlum novels before and I have to say they're quite memorable at certain points.

What kind of spy fiction books have you read /lit/?

the spy

Not spies exactly but The Day of the Jackal (probably one of the best 'thrillers' ever written) and The Dogs of War, both written by Frederick Forsyth. He has written about spies but these two are the only of his books that I've read. And they're amazing. Completely atypical of what people think of as spy literature.

I have four or five first edition James Bond books.

I'll pick up The Day of the Jackal since I really loved the film adaption.

That book was ghost written.

Anything with the possessive apostrophe-s deal going on is ghost written stuff.
