Has anybody here read The Epic of Gilgamesh? Was wondering if it was worth reading and what translation is the best one

>> No.2682384

I've read a very decent novelization of it, and if the originall epic is as awesome as the one I read, definately pick it up.

I would like to know that too.

So I'd be OK just buying the penguin classics version?

It is a very short book, and as the original story was carved into stone tablets nearly five thousand years ago its impossible to pick a best translation.

How short are we talking? I know the penguin classics version is split into 3 parts but I'm not sure what those 3 parts are; I think it's only part 1 which is the epic of gilgamesh but not sure

It is around 100 or so pages. You could easily read that in less than an hour.

Speaking of Gilgamesh, anyone know of any decent versions of the Enuma Elish?
