So I'm about 90% of the way through this book. I don't get it. People say it's entry level existentialism or something, but it hasn't really made me question my life or morals or anything. Can someone explain the philosophy of the Stranger to someone who doesn't know anything about philosophy?

Its not supposed to be a phil textbook. It's a novel. Its just based on his philosophical ideas. What have you noticed about the use of emotions, and attitudes towards moral issues?

Camoo explains the themes in the afterward. If you need to know more, check out The Myth of Sisyphus.

[insert insult here]
I'll just get that out of the way for the whole thread.

I know, but I was sort of expecting
a philosophical novel to make me question my own morals or something.

The main characters seems pretty detatched and generally apathetic, especially towards moral issues. What's the point being made here?

Morality doesn't exist independent of subjectivity, and life has no inherent meaning.

eeeeuugh. What a revolting notion. Women should be at least 3 meters away from the printed word at all times.
We really can't afford to disgrace literature with another RowlingMeyerCollins incident.

Is there supposed to be meaning behind the cover> Like people are pointing spears at the stranger or that the stranger is a bright light or something?

The sun plays an important role in the novel, that could be it.
