What are you hobbies other than reading /lit/? What other interests do you have that aren't related to contemplating life/reading an entertaining book/appreciating the arts?

Personally, I'm an avid watching of anime when I'm not reading.

Perfumery and Film, mainly. Used to be into backyard Astronomy but I've forgotten my way around the sky, I'm going to learn again tonight. I also like Nature and Wildlife.

I guess watching movies, writing some really stupid short stories, and reading comics.

Once even tried writing a screenplay.

Summer is a very good time to start since the skies are clearer and constellations are more noticeable. Get a book with a star chart in it, most introductory books to astronomy will have one, some won't have a lot of detail though. If you don't know any constellations at all, look for 3 stars in the sky that roughly look like a right angled triange, this is the summer triangle, which is a famous asterism with 3 of the brightest summer stars, from there, use the chart to learn the stars and constellations surrounding it. If you do know a constellation such as the big dipper, you can just use the chart to find the constellations next to it. hope that helps.

OP here again, adding to the watching of anime I also enjoy...

Listening to music on occasion. Mostly metal although it really depends on my mood.

Reading American comic books, although I only got into that recently.

Watching movies. Again, whatever takes my fancy at the time.

Studying History.

Writing stories for my friends. Actually working on adapting one into a novel, you never know right?

what are your favourite books?

Hmm, tough one. I'm not a fan of philosophy really so I tend to gravitate to fictions more, specifically fantasy. I'm a big Pratchett fan, my favorites of the Discworld series are Unseen Academicals, The Fifth Elephant and Making Money, though I think they're all good. Was disappointed with Snuff though, I felt like Vimes was more aggressive than normal.

I also really enjoy the Harry Potter books, specifically 1-5. Beyond that, they went downhill fast with the final one just being sort of 'meh' for me. I'm also working my way through the Chronicles of Narnia and I really should read His Dark Materials again. So yeah, I suppose mostly entry level stuff but I like it. Coinciding with my history studies I'm also working my way through The Art of War, does that count? I'm finding it fascinating.

Oh, and blue moon rarely I read something I normally wouldn't. I really enjoyed World War Z and for some odd reason The Zombie Survival Guide, I imagine Max Brooks gets a lot of hate around here?

I like anime and manga because they are sugoi kawaii ^o^

I like superheroes (cartoons and comics) because I can self-insert as them and feel like my life has actual worth

I browse terrible messaging boards to make myself feel better than others

I read classical Greek and Latin literature in order to feel more intellectual and above the lesser proles

Have a deep secret love of professional wrestling.

I even have dvds that I have hidden from my girlfriend. When I have a free house, me and my best friend catch up on all the stuff we've missed with a few beers: WWE, Indy, Japanese - everything.

It's good to have a mindless interest that allows you a break from the constant intellectualising of everything.

Hobbies?
As an aspiring filmmaker reading fiction stories gives me a lot I also enjoy it but I sometimes consider it working towards my goal of self-improvement, telling-stories-wise. Of course, I watch a lot of movies, but I'm behind my literary "education".

I collected coins and badges for a while, I have a somewhat good beginner collection, but that's about it now - watching movies and reading fiction and history books.

That sounds fascinating! Something I've often wondered, how much difference is there between tribes in regard to their art and culture? Is it all very similar or are there obvious, distinct differences? I've always imagined they're mostly the same as each other.

>>2677600

Ah yes, I'm also a gamer. Forgot to mention that. Although I do play less than I used to, unless there's something particularly appealing to me out.

>> No.2677658

Mostly music.
I've been trying to into film lately too.
