George RR Martin
J RR Tolkien

So the RR was an intentional marketing ploy to get people to associate good ole Georgy with Tolkien, right?

>> No.2662961

of course

>> No.2662962

I always just figured it was an innocent homage.

Who are you quoting?

>> No.2662988

>>2662982
No one said that.

>>2662929
no it's his actual name. George Raymond Richard Martin.

>> No.2663014

>>2662991
Clearly it's his actual name, but he could just as easily have gone by George Martin.

so every other author is allowed to use their middle initials except him just because they happen to be the same as a more renowned author? i dont think so

>> No.2663236

>>2662988

Time magazine did. And they're right in some respects, although GRRM is a much better writer than Tolkien.

>> No.2663239

> Tolkien < GRRM

I can smell your neckbeard from here

>>2663239

Actually what you're smelling is good taste.

>> No.2663248

brb telling my friend Stephanie King she's not allowed to write anymore

>> No.2663250

>>2663245
Fuck off with your lies. GRRM is a shit tier Wal-Mart fiction writer with the foresight and imagination of the third button on my denim jacket.

>> No.2663275

>>2663250

How does he not have foresight and imagination?

>> No.2663318

My biggest goddamn beef with the sci-fi/fantasy genre- the connections to Tolkein on every goddamn book cover.

Go down that aisle of a bookstore and you will see Twiddle Dumblefuck of the Times-post Magazine quoted "THE NEXT TOLKEIN" like it is a crown that needs to be passed on to some lucky author.
