There's no such thing as GB. Great Britain ceased to exist more than 200 years ago.

The UK doesn't "own" Northern Ireland, it's part of the union. Scotland entered the union of its own volition and there isn't a strong movement for independence outside the political classes, which is why Alex Salmon daren't ever call a plebiscite on the subject because he'll effectively remove the reason for his party to exist.

However, his nationality can not be disputed. It'd be like saying Einstein wasn't a German because he moved to America and came up with more ideas while living there.

It isn't an argument.

Wilde was born in Ireland, fact.
He claimed to be an Irish national, fact.
He lived and wrote his plays in England, fact.
At the time of his life, Ireland was apart of the UK, fact.
He supported Irish independence, fact.

While Ireland was apart of the U.K. , it does not make him English (British) due to the fact that the U.K. has always been a union of the countries of the British Isles. Culture wise, they are very different.

Besides, his biographies list him as an Irish author. He goes into team Ireland.

a. Tolkien was born in South Africa.
b. The existence of the whole does not negate the existence of the parts. You might regard Wilde as part of UK literature or Irish literature and you would be equally right. The one does not exclude the other. Even though Scotland is still part of the UK there is definitely something like Scottish culture and therefore literature.
