Post your /lit/ consumption device.

>Also, /lit/ should get serif-fonts and italics to separate ourselves from the /plebs/.

It's a 4-year-old grody-ass black Lenovo R500 laptop.

Hope this helps.

Don't talk about stuff about which you know nothing.

It's the 6'', non-3G Kindle that has the keyboard bit.

Original poster again. I have a degree in typography and a few years of professional experience in the field.

Let's bring the quality of our posts up a bit, please. /lit/ should have some minimum standards.

It's this but with the 3G bit.

Original poster yet again. Serif fonts were innovative because it allowed extended periods of reading with less ocular strain. Function edges out form. I know Helvetica is popular right now, but it's overrated, in my opinion.

I have this but I accentally it. Now I'll probably go for the most basic Kindle they have. Never used the keyboard anyway and I love clean light minimalist stuff.

looking at the Kindle Touch 3G, but will wait for the rumored illuminated revision

You have degree in typography not webdesign. Show me a site with similar layout as 4chan wich works with serif fonts.
>>2658261
This just proves you don't know shit about typography on web or screen because serif fonts are typically terribly hinted and that causes more ocular strain.

Helvetica actually fits this site perfectly. It's one of the most neutral and ubiquitous fonts which supports the whole “anonymous” concept.

Don't try to defend the status-quo. There is always a more proven way. The fact is, most web based designers are incredibly lacking in fundamental standards.

Hardcovers, because I'm not poor and I have taste.

>> No.2658325

>>2658306
It's not status-quo, just a good practice because of the hinting issue. Obviously there are some exceptions and it's slowly getting better. Still, serifs would make this site look antiquated. It's also easier to skim through san-serif text because there's no forced horizontal focus and nobody really reads everything on 4chan.

serifs look amazing on hi-res "retina" displays

i think the sans variety became the default out of necessity because of inherent technical limitations

Eyestrain, eyestrain everywhere.

Is that the most optimal serif font? Does your example provide enough tracking? There would need to be some time and expertise to find the right one for the job, unlike the straw-man you used.

yeah I could provide hd comparisons of different helvetica variants but if you dont already understand why in theory it wouldn't work then you dont know basic design principles

There's no fucking reason to change the font other than
>to separate ourselves from the /plebs/
and you know that's bullshit.
