Sup /lit/erates!

For my American Lit class, we were given an interesting assignment that I’d like your help with. We were each given an eminent “mainstream” novel that everyone seems to have read and stamped with their opinion. I was given The Great Gatsby. (SCORE. Even though Scott was total prick and I believe Zelda to be the better writer of the two, I still rather adore this story).

I’m supposed to pick two characters (that is not Gatsby or Tom, preferably minor) and write two papers on what REAL argument or social commentary Fitzgerald is making using said character. The catch is; the thesis must be something that no one has ever brought up/ written about before.

I already did one, I just need a second. Help me out, guys. I’ll make it up to you somehow.

If I never saw another Gatsby thread on /lit/ I'd be a happy man.

It'd be an easy paper, yeah, but all those ideas have been swallowed up.

Plus he's not technically a character.
