This entire book has smear marks from my hands. Are my hands too sweaty or something? Should I wash my hands every 4 seconds? Am I holding it for too long? I don't see this shit happening with other people
What the fuck

Probably the ink smudging. Maybe avoid touching the text..Even so, little irregularities gives the book character. So even if this is persistent. Just accept it. No use overloading yourself with useless tasks while you're reading in some attempt to keep paperbacks in some sort of pristine condition that they were never meant to be.

People just have natural oils that secrete from their skin. It's why when you tour a cave or cavern you're not allowed to touch anything because all that oil would deteriorate the rock. Now, that same oil is constantly being applied to your book along with all the dirt, dead skin, and whatever it picks up from just you're daily activities. If it really bothers you, the best advice is to wash your hands before you begin reading. Libraries that have rare books have similar rules for cleanliness and some don't even allow you to touch the pages.

When I spill a liquid on any object I immediately shake the fuck out of it, grab a towel, soak that shit up
Maybe even stick it in rice

I spilled sticky ass cough syrup once. I have a few books that are pink and the pages turn fine.
