Writer's block got you stuck?

Have a urge to dash something off just for the hell of it?

How about we post images and /lit/izens try to come up with something pertaining by them for a little writing exercise? Doesn't matter how much/little you write, as long as something in, or about, the picture gets mentioned at some point.

Like mystical shimmering memories manifested through ancient stone in mossy landscapes forgotten by the free world. Like beautiful block buildings left out by toddlers who forgot to destroy what they'd created. Surreal images of human innovation crumbling under the unrelenting forces of time and gravity. Relics left behind by humans who had yet to exterminate the mythical strobe of moonlight that granted upright apes the ability to quarry gods from cracked rock walls. These structures remain as subtle reminders of the damage we've not only inficted, but sustained in our frantic attempts to satisfy our synthetic desires.

That feeling, when you are so weightless and your cares are washed away by a deluge of adrenaline as you fly, head over ankles through the air, tossed off your crashed jet ski. Why did I take it into the pool? you ask yourself. It's not large, just long enough to get the jetski up to speed. One of those Formula 1 machines. Jet engines. Well, here you are, still tumbling through the void, seeing the summer sun whip across any sharp or gleaming surfaces as you slowly black out from the velocity. This is slow motion for you. Why? You must be making a huge arc over the cement. Here comes the facade. The house, gleaming, tearing at you through the blue air. And down you come, straight at the patio door, the knob outstreched, friendly, a sign of peace, and stainless steel: modernity incarnate. You've become somehow backwards through tumbling, you notice you're facing the pool from which you were whipped. You land with a thud, the pain's absence excruciating. Your back half has become one with the outstretched doorknob. You are annealed now. You are half man, half door. The first-responders will faint before your might and power. When they arrive.

...The sky shuttle's speed started to slow, prompting Lierni to put her new antique book back into its box. A lovely addition to her collection she thought. Farther to the east than Venice, the sun had already set, this and the gentle wind coming off the Black Sea, greeted her at the embarkment platform, giving her a bit of a start from all this pleasant weather. The famous steps were just a few meters away, but once she reached them she wasn't sure whether to head up or down, so she loitered a while in plain sight, till her old professor could spot her. What did she need to see her about so urgently, and not over a communication signal?

"Venice is such a beautiful place." Alexis sighed, her eyes had been transfixed on the many sights of the city. It was as if everything struck her eye in a different fashion, each item her eyes gazed upon was a story in itself. The most interesting things were the homes of course, surrounded entirely by water, a pristine color that she rarely, if ever, saw in her life back in the US.
"I don't know, it worries me." James replied, his visions were very much different from hers, his thoughts more jaded.
"What do you mean?" She asked, looking up at him with a curious look on her face.
"Well, think about it," He began, extending his hand forward,
"All of this is set in water. I've read somewhere that Venice is actually slowly sinking into the ground, so eventually they will end up drowning in their homes. Why would they live here knowing that could happen?" He asked.
"Maybe because they want to enjoy fleeting beauty while they have it? That they can live and be a part of something so spectacular that, although it's not permanent, it's something they felt they needed to experience, something they may never get a second chance at?" She finished, looking back at James, who chuckled
"So you're saying the entire city of Venice is comprised entirely of opportunistic idealists who live here for no reason but to appreciate their everyday circumstances?"
"Well, of course not, the realists are the gondola workers." She told him
"Well yeah, because if everything goes under they'll still be floating." They shared a small laugh together as the city tour continued.

Shit, I dunno

The man saw the house through the branches of trees. As he stepped out from the forest, the entire woods seemed to take a deep sigh, deflating itself as though the man had passed through a barrier, leaving the forest less full than before. He looked up at the house. It reminded him of an owl, wings opened in a welcoming embrace, catching wayward travelers, freeing them selves from the suffocating closeness of the forest and bringing them to an openness frightening in comparison.

Nice exercise to make me try and write something like that. It was difficult and felt clumsy trying to write it.
