Designing a language for a short story (may become a novel).
Any ideas?

Compare latin case endings with japanese postpostions, e.g. cattus/catti versus neko/neko no (i.e. cat/of the cat~the cat's.) Don't bother creating some ridiculously complex agglutinating language when it can be simplified with postpositions.
Consider a similar policy with verb conjugation, e.g. having a separate tag syllable after the verb instead of modifying the verb (e.g. 's' modifying 'eat' in 'He eats here very other day.')

Read this:
http://schott.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/03/10/questions-answered-invented-languages/

then read her book. I looked for it some time ago in the internet but cudn't find a decent version. I found a scanned version that failed to include all the special characters used thruout the book.

If you're designing it just as an aesthetic element in your story, then designing a cypher is the easiest. If you're trying to go full on Tolkien, though, good luck.

omniglot.com has a display of invented scripts that can be useful for considering how you want your language to look.

Ok, here's a mind blowing concept which will have NEVER occurred to you. Ok?

Let's take this one really slow, we don't want to shock anyone. How about, no, what if I told you that you could /literally/ buy the book and have it delivered to your door?

Deep breaths.

Well, this is arbitrary as fuck, but this is now my new project.
I'm in a Spanish class. As I learn new aspects to Spanish, I'll invent some goofy-ass sounds to replace the present ones, and simplify stupid grammar.

I had too much free time anyway.

I dislike fysical books. Not worth the money. Too bothersome to quote from. Etc.

No. There are far too many interesting things to read that are freely available.

Well, not to nitpick, but with an e-reader, every book is freely available. *nudge nudge*
