So I need to know, what is one common theme in all of Camus's works and which literary devices does he use to achieve that theme?

>> No.2601789

Is this another author who sucks eggs but /lit/ pretends to like him anyway?

HUEHUEHUEH

OH /LIT/! YOU CRAY!

>> No.2601787

Words are a common theme.

He uses the literary device known as prose.

Seriously you guys? Can I just get some help here? I'm being paid to write this paper for someone and I just need to know a theme that is common in all his works and what literary devices (tone, syntax, symbolism, etc) he uses to achieve his theme. Help me out here please?

Now now anon, don't be telling porkies you didn't know who he was you seen my post and google'd him whilst doing so you read about who he was and what a great old chap he was. Then you realized that not knowing who was would make you an outcast here thus posting that post. Was I close to the truth Anon? I think I was.

If I wrote about that, then I wouldn't get paid sadly. I need a theme and literary devices to write about.

Camus wrote frequently on the topic of doing one's own homework, and used the common literary device of s'ing d's

talk about how sartre was the sole creator of absurdism, and that the only field camus was concerned with was christian existentialism.

I've done some reading about Sartre. Christian existentialism? Is there anyway to put that into a usable theme? And what literary devices would be used along with that?

remember how on two occasions, religion was mentioned in the Outsider? talk about that, that is important. Also, read the link below about all the important themes of that novel, his other novels exploit similar themes

I'm reading the stranger
that shit's weak.

>> No.2601940

I don't get the big deal about The Stranger. The guy's a total asshole but the author calls him a man who's condemned because of his society's rules. HE KILLED A MAN. If you don't think that's not wrong then you should probably deserve to die but this is a Nihilist book so I don't think anyone who likes this shit actually cares.

Read "The Fall." It's seemingly the least recommended Camus novel, here and elsewhere, but I think it's the best. Sartre agrees. Plus, I love the way Jean-Baptiste Clamence speaks, his locution, even in translation, is unctuous and razor sharp at the same time. "Ah, I see you smile at that use of the subjunctive. I confess my weakness for that mood and for fine speech in general." Delightful.

Because "The Plague" is better and "The Stranger" and "Exile and the Kingdom" are shorter, so easier to read through.

>the author calls him a man who's condemned because of his society's rules. HE KILLED A MAN.

Yeah, but the only reason he was executed was because he didn't cry at his mother's funeral.

>> No.2603519

>>2603481

Learn to read bruh.
The reason they executed that asspie is because he hunted down the Arab he had fought with before and shot him dead in cold blood.
The prosecutor (or whatever the yuro equivalent is) just used his mothers funeral to highlight what a heartless faggot he was.

I fucking hate everyone on this thread except for you. Camus is amazing and his main themes are always the man who struggles with the way society works. He is the real existentialist author, Sartre? Really? Sartre was just an emotional wreck most of the time.

I've read every damn thing Camus wrote, I second the idea of The Fall as his best book. The whole idea of being able to judge other people because he is a penitent after seeing his life destroyed is beautiful. The fact that the entire narration is a monologue and it doesn't bore me is amazing.

Everyone else in here who is saying The Stranger is weak can go and die, painfully.
